Tax Rebate for Film Makers Extended by Idaho House

HB 194 extends a sales tax rebate for film makers who spend money in Idaho. This is the type of bill that I love to hate: special tax breaks for a specific industry. Interestingly, in the 5 years of this special break, it does not appear to have been used at all. I made a short debate against extending this rebate for another 5 years, opposing its special benefit to one industry, pointing out its resounding success, and stating that it is time to end this deal. My debate did not carry the day, as the bill passed 50-16, but now maybe when the legislature is finished I can hire on as an extra without any conflict of interest.
