Idaho Horse Racing Simulcast Bill Passes out of House Committee on Narrow Vote

A bill that would allow off-site simulcasting with wagering passed out of the State Affairs Committee on a narrow 10-7 vote this morning. Currently there are 8 small tracks in Idaho that are allowed to have on-site simulcasting. The intent of the bill was stated to keep the number of simulcast locations to 8. However, I with others had concerns that the language was not tight enough to hold to that restriction. One provision states that no more than one site is allowed per county, and there are 44 counties in Idaho. The bill will move on to the House floor for further debate.
