Idaho Building Code Exemption Bill By Rep. Luker On Way To Governor

My bill strengthening rights for property owners against burdensome building code upgrades was signed by the Senate President after passing the Senate 30-4 last week. The bill HB207, exempts unaffected parts of buildings being improved or expanded from code upgrades unless a specific safety hazard created by the project is identified by the building code official or affects access. The bill will encourage economic activity by reducing costs for building upgrades, and reduce insurance cost for repairs. The bill had previously passed the House 53-14, and now goes to Governor Otter.
