Boise Metro Chamber of Commerce Forum Focuses On Health Exchange Issue::
Legislators invited to the Boise Metro Chamber Forum today were presented with a strong plea in support of creating an Idaho Health Insurance Exchange. Going into the session legislators knew that this would be one of the top issues, and it is playing out that way. Although there were a number of good points presented in support, one that was not persuasive was a comment that the state can back out later if the Supreme Court decides in favor of the states. One of the basic concerns is that if the state uses federal money ($30 million requested), then the state will be locked in, even if the states later win in the Supreme Court. Expect to see the acceptance of federal money to establish the exchange to be a major point of debate as this issue moves through the legislature.
