Representative Lynn Luker Requests Idaho Attorney General To Investigate Security Assurances Given By Idaho Health Insurance Exchange

Late Friday afternoon, December 20, 2013, Idaho State Representative Lynn Luker, (R-Boise) filed a request with Idaho Attorney General Lawerence Wasden to investigate whether the Idaho Health Insuance Exchange, Your Health Idaho, has adequately complied with Idaho law requiring that information collected through the exchange is and will be secure. Exchange Chairman Stephen Weeg issued letters to Governor Butch Otter and Insurance Director Bill Deal on September 27, 2013 certifying that the exchange was secure prior to the exchange opening to accept applications on October 1, 2013. The certification appears to have been issued based upon federal assurances and not from an independent investigation. Since then, multiple reports in the media and in congressional hearings reveal significant concern with and security risks in the federal portal, www.healthcare.gov, which the Idaho exchange currently uses to process insurance applications. The full text of Representative Luker’s request and Chairman Weeg’s certification is attached to this post. chumly.com/attachment/15231654
